Saturday Stuffs

It's day two of the linky party. I sat up and read so many blogs last night I am cross eyed. My head was swimming. My son could have jumped off the roof as Superman last night and I would have never known it, I was so entralled. I got up yesterday morning thinking, I am going to get up at the crack of dawn and push the send button and ba-geez, there were already 200 people linked up. So, I thought I would write another quick post, re-link (because I just don't want you to forget to check out my blog) and spend the day with more blog overload. I hope you checked out my introductory post here. It's just a snippit of my blessed life. Or you can check out my funny side. Bloggy Linky Party Time

OMG! I am so excited about the bloggy link up party, that I can’t stand myself. But hopefully you can stand me and take a look at my blog and follow, make friends, share your thoughts, blah blah bing…

I thought I would just do an introductory post because I am still new to the blogging world. I still don’t know all the ends and outs, I am still learning, but I have fallen head over heels for my blog. It’s mine, all mine. It’s not perfection, I am not brave enough just yet to take outfit posts (I am getting there just by inspiration from seeing other blogs and I need a new camera), it does not have colorful, flashing buttons just yet, no idea how to play music or upload a video, 11 wonderful followers so far, no sponsors, about 20 comments so to date, but it’s okay. You know WHY? Because it’s mine, all mine…

I know that someone someday will see and love it. I have ideas galore, Pinterest creations that are hot mess hot (oh, new word, high five myself), everyone will see my Etsy shop in 2012, you will think I am wonderfully simple and funny, I will make lots of friends, I will learn to have a linky party, upload a video, go to blogger conferences. I will write my stories, my feelings, post my pictures, share my life, be a blog stalker, give advice, make someone’s day and I love it! Why because it’s mine, all mine! I have become more confident because I did it myself. I want it to grow, create conversation, be funny enough to repeat and beautiful enough to remember. And I want to share it with all of you. So, here is a little about me. I hope you enjoy my little pickle of a blog. Because for now, it can be yours all yours to share. Here is a preview...

No workout post tuesday..but a few random thoughts

There is no workout post for Tuesday. Honestly, I didn't do jack squat this week except walk around a pumpkin farm for 2 hours. So, I thought I would just post some random thoughts or things I think about and ponder..

1. Do you ever wonder why it is that men can go in a bathroom and whip out their wanker in front of each other, but if a women walks in and you gotta do the number 2 you will hold it until they either flush the toilet or leave. And what really sucks is that you both have to do the same thing so its a "you go first" competition to see who does it first. I actually had a lady say she was sorry that I overheard it. It's like Oprah said, "everyone poo's".

2. Why we can put a man on the moon, but we can't take fat from other parts of our body and make boobs.

3. Why men can adjust and scratch themselves in public, but if a woman did it they would think she had crotch rot.

4. I would love to see a diver at the Summer Olypmics jump off the diving board curl up and yell, "Cannonball!" just for chits and giggles.

5. I believe everyone woman should be issued a full length mirror at birth.

6. The trend with mustard colored clothes. Hense, the color is mustard, you look like mustard. (sorry personal preference).

7. The special sauce on a Big Mac is really 1000 Island dressing.

8. Speedo's should be illegal.

9. Who really waxes their bung hole? I mean seriously, who is looking or going to see it? It isn't like you go in like you got a new hair cut and say, "Honey, look at my new wax job. Do you like it or do you think I should grow it back out?

10. Wonder Women had an invisible jet, hmmmm, ponder, how did she stay in the air if it was invisible? I looked it up and invisible means not there, cannot see etc...get my point.

11. Rice grosses me out.

12. Why they didn't make Barbie have thunder thighs and 5'5"?

13. Why Santa Claus has yet to bring me a dolphin for Christmas like I asked for at 6 years old.

14. Who invented the tampon and who was the lucky duck who got to perform all the test trials till they got it precise.

And finally,

15. Any man wearing skinny jeans should be fined at least one thousand dollars for making us tolerate looking at the piggy in his market.

Happy Tuesday, lovies, please follow my blog, I follow back..XO, Dusty

I accept it...Product Review

Happy Monday everyone. As you can read from my post yesterday, we had a great weekend. Monday hasn't stared out so great. "I" woke up with a stomach virus. Nothing like your kid crying with barf on the bed and Libby the youngest Lab eating it (gross I know, but hey the truth). Anyway, with lack of sleep. My thoughts are a little scattered but I have been wanting to write this post on a product review. I have been in search of a good mascara. I have been using L'oreal's Voluminous and really like it, but wanted to try some of the "Falsies" mascaras that have been advertised in all he magazines. I have a fascination with false eyelashes but am not brave or coordinated to put them on and ever since my friend told me she glued her eye shut, I have been scared to do them. So the two sets I have are setting on my makeup table.

Last week I purchased the new Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes mascara. I have tried the pink and green tubes of mascara of each variety. And once again, I was disappointed. Let me say, that I don't have eyelashes like Rapunzel. I lost alot of eyelashes when I got pregnant. It's not like I don't have any, I just don't have a thick set like some people. This mascara did nothing except coat my lashes. It provided no length, no thickness, no volume and they were stiff as a board. The brush at the end is plastic and weird and as much as I put on the end of the wand it still did nothing. I think this product is made for someone who already has a thick set of lashes to accentuate what they already have. I am just going to resolve myself to the fact that I cannot use the mascara in the pretty tube. . Oh, well, hope someone else has better luck.

Pumpkin Day

On Saturday, the family and my cousin's family went to Lannom Farms pumpkin patch. What a fun day! I love my cousin so much. She is one of my best friends and I salute her, she has three kids and I would probably go ba-nan-as! (that was for her and our Rachel Zoe talk from my Two Cents Thursdays post). The day consisted of hayrides, sliding through a large drain tub, pumpkin picking, eating Carmel apples, pumpkin carving, baking pumpkin seeds with cinnamon and salt, pizza, watching college football and laughter. It was a wonderful day leading up to Halloween next Monday. I hope everyone takes advantage of the Fall season, their local fun and shares wonderful family time. Here are a few pictures. Happy Day!

Two Cents Thursdays

It’s Two Cents Thursday. It’s my day to say whatever has been on my mind for the last seven days. Of course most people that know me, know I speak my mind, so please my friends who read this do not crucify me just yet. I know that she has followers and people that idolize her (Let me point out, I like her but I don’t idolize her). OK, here goes… The Rachel Zoe project on Bravo TV.

I could not sleep on Tuesday night. I do this sometimes. So after flipping through the channels, I came upon the Rachel Zoe Project, which I have watched before, but not in a while. Apparently, a long while there are some new people on staff. Anyway, my love of reality TV emotion kicks in and says what the heck. I mean I will totally confess I watched the Newlyweds on MTV, and was pissed when they broke up because then she started dressing ugly and I didn’t have a show to go see cute outfits anymore, but that’s ok, I like his new wifey’s style better..(huh, oh yeah, sidetracked). So I begin to watch and the more I watched the more I thought to myself, is she really like this? Does she really talk like this? Does she really dress like this? Is her husband really wearing a scarf wrapped 8 times around his neck? Has she always been like this, who can verify that she has used these words since kindergarten? Did she walk in class and say “oh, my gawd, those Velcro snoopy shoes are ba-nan-as! Is that shirt from Gymboree because its maj!”  I would like it verified that her first words were, Channel. Being from the South I thought that we had our own language but it's like her own little world. Her assistant I found very very funny. Aside from his nose being brown from kissing her wazoo, he really is the highlight of the show. On this episode she was getting ready to have her baby and her team of stylists came in with her list of outfits for the hospital, fancy luggage and hair and makeup team for when she left the building. Seriously, I packed sweat pants, Uggs, no makeup, granny panties, maxi pads in a duffle bag when I went to have my son.I mean lets face it, when your vajay jay is swollen up like the twelfth planet of the solar system, fashion is the last thing on your mind. Her husband bought her a 10 carat ring (I think) as a push present. I got a balloon and flowers which were wonderful and a Big Mac on the way home because I was starving. She eats an apple and has a pooch. My point of this story is, I love slang. I live in the South were your brothers are called Bubba, a hose pipe is a garden hose up North, fun is a tractor ride to the CO-OP on a Saturday, fried chicken is served at breakfast, a sale at Macy’s is ba-nan-as, your mom still gets her hair frosted threw a cap, a Toni home perm is still a fashion statement and something that is “maj” in our world means you have a serious condition you can get rid of with medication. I have my own slang, I say, “faboo” a lot and “love love” but the way they spoke drove me nuts. I am sure if I were to meet her she would go back and say, “Oh-my-gawd! That girl with the Gap jeans, cheap target sweater, boots from hmmm, (Joey the assistant will look it up), TJ Maxx handbag and nude lips, has this  K-ra-zy accent, owns nothing Louis Vuitton, proud to be a Southern Princess and loves fried pickles….

Cozy Wednesday & One Obsession

It's a cold, rainy Wednesday in Tennessee. A good cozy day. So I am going to snuggle up and watch my favorite new show "Revenge". Now onto my obsession.... I am obsessed with finding a pair of clogs. Blame it on being a product of the 70's but I am determined. I found a pair at Forever 21 for $6.99, went back to buy them and GONE! I searched eBay for weeks thinking someone would put them on there to sell. Nothing yet. So I was blog searching and came across this cutesy tootsie girl and her look of the day, scrolled down and what to my wondering eyes appear but a beautiful set of the most perfect clogs. I click the site and they are from Spain... Ugh! So after transferring the money into United States and sending an email with a response of "we ship worldwide" I go to order. ..and they are $79. Not bad you say, well, until you ship them..$36 dollars to send them overseas. The other problem I have is I have no idea what my shoe size is in Timbuktu. So, I go research what my size would be in England, which who knew, I thought all those people just drank tea and wore riding boots and I still don't get it, but I am still on my quest. I will find my clogs and if anyone knows where I can find a pair like these, please let me know. Until then, here is an outfit I put together for Cozy Wednesday. I would have totally wore this outfit today...if I had these CLOGS!

Workout Tuesday

As promised its Workout Tuesday. And to tell you I hit it hard and heavy would be a big exaggeration, but I did hit it, just not with a big bat. I did manage to walk twice last week and last night and tonight I did the exercises from my Shape magazine. The one that kicked my happy ass was the Audrina Patridge workout (seen here). The most difficult part for me was the Cat Raise. I positioned my self in the plank position. Uncomfortable! I don't see all the rage on this planking stuff. I was face down on a mat and my boobs were smashed against the floor. So I proceeded to raise my toes vertical and my up onto the back of my forearms positioned under my shoulders as described. Then you raise your butt up and down to a vertical position. Then hold for 2 counts and back down. It doesn't say how many reps to do but I did 15 and by the time I got done I thought my hernia's were going to bust out. It reminded me of when you play horsey with your kids when they are two and can't help themselves but to ride around on your back. Somehow when your younger it seems funny ha ha. This is defiantly a workout for the abs. I am not very coordinated, so it took a few times and a pause or three in between but it's something that even though I thought I was about plant it face first, I will keep doing. The other workout moves were somewhat difficult but manageable. So, my thoughts are these... no way this girl does this every day, every other day, or for crap and giggles. She is that skinny because she eats twigs and 2 leaves of lettuce everyday and probably has a wheatgerm shake to tide her over until she hits da club for fruity drink called the "make me puke later". All and all,  I found myself sucking it in afterwards like a wrestler on steroids and my legs are a little sore, but I will keep it in the rotation. Did you sweat it out this week?

OK, I go eat pizza now! XOXO, Dusty

Friendship

Last night, I was watching the Real Housewives of New Jersey. One of my favorite reality TV shows. I know, I know, give me heck about it later, but it cracks me up. The husbands more than the women because they just say whatever is on their minds. It amazes me that these people can have all this "money" and still have the same issues as lower/middle class people which only proves that money doesn't always make you happy (but a little would make me smile..just saying). Any hoot, last night was the "Reunion" show on Bravo. Four of the five women showed up to mud sling, accuse, tell the truth (sort of) and rip each other to shreds. And although I am addicted, I find it puzzling. Here are women that live in a small community, have been friends for years and family all their lives, yet destroyed by a TV show. Now I am sure that these things probably would happen even if the cameras weren't rolling, but I don't understand how easily it is to just let friendships go and family be distant. Which brings me to the blog title above, Friendship. I have always been about girl power, no doubt. I was raised very independent, but I also realize that I am dependant on the friendships I have been given.

Friday night, my wonderful bff, "L" came over for pizza and wine. As soon as she walks in I know that we are going to laugh. I also know that even if we don't speak for a week or a month, we pick up right were we left off. We could set and talk for hours. There are some people that are just apart of your soul. She is one of them. I have a few of those soul sisters. WE all have people in our lives that we call when certain events happen. There are ones that are there in your heart but just aren't reachable. One's that are your "girls" from elementary school and beyond. Some you lose touch with and some that come back into your life (my sweet high school bud's). But how is it that it becomes so easy to just let them walk away and it just becomes ok? To me its not. Maybe it's my reflection on life entering the 40 mark or maybe its watching these women not celebrating each other on TV ripping each other apart that draws me closer to make an effort more to become more involved. But you will always have those that are just "in passing". They are in your heart but can't draw them near. Who's fault is that? Both I suppose, but why does it have to be that way?. Friendships go threw the ups and downs like any relationship. Certain circumstances divide us. We either move away or we just are different people. But here is my opinion. True friendships never fade. If your friend truly knows who you are, then there is never a doubt in their mind. You agree to disagree, but whatever it may be, you solve that issue right away and move on. I truly hope that these women make amends. I mean lets face it. We are women! You put enough hens in the house then their going to talk trash and peck each others eyes out. Here are my top six friendship rules. Do I always go by them, no, but I also make every effort to be a true friend. I encourage all my friends and other friendships to reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a while or tell those close how much you appreciate them being in your life. Women should celebrate each other.

Top Six Friendship Rules
Be Honest -don't ever say anything you wouldn't say to their face (yes your ass looks fat in those pants)
Hug - like you mean it.
Share - don't be afraid to talk about anything, a true friend listens uninterrupted.
Be Thankful - you have each other in your life for a reason, near and far
Say I love you!

So to all of my friends, near and far, close, distant, past, lost and in between, I am so thankful you are or were in my life. I am glad we have gotten to share our friendship. I am embracing you all with a big hug and honestly, I  love you each and every one.

My two cents…Thursday

My two cents…Thursday

My mind is always thinking of something to write, what am I going to do today, what’s for lunch, is my butt too big, I need to call my friends, post on FB, work on my etsy stuff, etc. I can’t wait to get to work to see the news online. I don’t get to see anything except Disney Channel and Nick at Nite and it’s amazing because my son can go outside and I can turn the channel thinking he’s gone to play and he can come right back in it is like he has “esp” because he comes inside and says, “why did you turn my channel, I was watching that”. Ugg. So I reserve my TV time to Wednesday and Sunday nights.  I watch the new show “Revenge” and “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” (aren’t they just whackadoodles, but I love them, it makes me openly belly laugh). So the rest of my thoughts are based on the going-on’s of the day or the world in brief readings on the internet or my obsession with smut magazines as I call them (people, US, Life & Style, etc). So today, I am going to ramble briefly about some things that are bugging the crap out of me and life’s little lessons.

Feel free to comment. I would love to know what everyone else thinks. Especially your pit and peaks of your day.

1.    Sick of hearing about Michael Jackson…yes, the doctor is negligent, but Michael Jackson killed Michael Jackson. He was a drug addict, face it people! Billy Jean was not his lover but profonol was!
2.   We all need to learn that nobody is too big for their own britches..
3.   Make your own way!
4.   Be real
5.   Kim Kardashian needs just a little more black eyeliner and mascara oh, and try to find her a sucker to fan her and feed her grapes while she pays $70,000 for a pair of earrings. Has anyone yet to see an episode or read where these girls donate money to charity?
6.   Pit of my day: Snot (I am catching a cold)
7.   Peak of my day: Mac n cheese for lunch
8.   I want to learn to sew better.
9.   Bristol Palin got drunk off wine coolers and pregnant..newsflash, so did half the people in the late 80’s.
10. My version of Recycling: Take but fat insert in boobs for insta boob job..Just sayin!

Happy Thursday everyone! XO, D

Window Shopping Wish List

Here is my wish list, although short, its some of the things I hope to get ...on sale of course. One of the items my sweet moma got me as an early birthday present. I posted on FB and have several inquiries. Here are a few of those items I am losing sleep over..well, actually the only thing I have lost sleep over is the camera. I broke my SLR camera  which is why I haven't been able to show any outfits posts and decided I wanted a point and shoot. I have a spare camera right now that takes a lot of photo editing. I will be reminding my lovey every day, that I really really need this camera, oh and a tripod (wink wink). Any hoot, tell me about your window shopping wish list and remember Santa is watching maybe if you're a good girl you will get what you want.

This is the item you have been asking about:
Adorable huh! Thank you sweet moma! and i emailed the company and they actually changed the red bow to pink for me! Thank You, Cutie Hats!

The Workout..oh boy!

I think I have mentioned that I am going on a ski trip in December and I am turning 40 (November 1st). As these events are up and coming, I am reflecting on my life. Actually, I am reflecting on my butt and reducing the "watch it wiggle, see it jiggle" attitude. Yeah, butts have attitudes and mine seems to have a bad one. I am not overweight by any means (120 pounds), but after 6 years of missing a 6 pack which I know I will probably never have again - which is ok; I just want things to firm up. Plus, there is a hot tub at our cabin and I insist that in 25 degree weather, hopping my jello in a bikini and enjoying a few cocktails with my peeps. So, I have decided that with no rhyme or reason that I must decide to make a change. A lifestyle change. You always read that you need to be healthy and it should be a lifestyle. I agree, but I refuse to give up a good cheeseburger. So I as I slather the mayo on this chicken sandwich I have made for dinner (for my "I" of course), I have devised a workout. I am also going to hold myself accountable, so every Tuesday I will be giving updates of what I have done for my workout (and promise to not lie). You don't know me, you don't see me, so I could just easily say, I ran 8 miles, hiked a mountain trail, took a spin class, swam the ocean, and completed the Chicago marathon, but if you know me well enough, that will never happen.

I started yesterday and walked for 20 mintues. I am not doing miles, math isn't my forte, so I decided that wearing a watch is much easier than multiplying or adding up mile markers. Tuesday, see above, I ate a chicken sandwhich, duh! So here is what I will be doing in my quest to have Jennifer Aniston's body. Follow along if you dare and let me know how your workout is going. I am sure somewhere a pee pill, laxative and a seaweed wrap will be included in my quest for health.

Hat Attack

After the dreaded laziness last week, this week I promised myself to do ten different things which includes posting. I am loving this more and more and I still have more to do. Someone asked me the other day "why did you decide to do this, your a pretty private person?" I am turning 40 in a few weeks. I just feel like this is a time in my life to enjoy it. So many things have happened this year and I have so much to be thankful for. I also love to share. Everyone always says where did you get that hat, or asking me personal advice. I try to always be there for my friends and family. I also love to write and I love to laugh, so why not combine the two. Two years ago, I got laid off from a very good job and made pretty good money, and wham! I went from shopping every weekend to shopping maybe once every three months and that was mostly for my son. So, I learned to love window shopping, getting ideas to recreate from my own closet and shop on a budget. Some of my posts will definitely be wish lists. I have never bought much of anything unless it's on sale anyway, so budget shopping whether at the mall or grocery is in my personality.

Any hoot, anyone that knows me knows I am a HAT GIRL! I would wear one every day of my life if I could. There is something about a hat that makes you confident yet mysterious. Plus, they are cool and they cover up my hair when I am in desperate need of a root stimulation from my wonderful hair chick, Stephanie. Here are some I found on line. TJ Maxx currently has a great selection right now and I am in need to add another to my collection. You can also find the rest of my choices on my Pinterest.
Enjoy!

Girly Girl

I have been so lazy this week. I have all these thoughts and ideas in my head and not the energy to do it. I need to get my etsy up and going, start my desk make over, figure out how to link pages to this blog, pick out a new camera, etc..to be continued...Do you ever get like that? Last week I made a headband for .49 cents. Now i want to make more. I want to decorate my table and mantle for fall, yet can't muster the energy to get up in the attic. So this weekend I will get on the stick (ha that's fitting for Halloween huh!) I did however stay on Pinterest for two hours last night. For some reason I was feeling overly feminine. I think I looked at everything that had a ruffle and a bow. And thank god I am the mother of a boy or he would look like one of those girls from Toddler and Tiara's. Any hoot, here are a few things I found that made me feel like a southern girl with honeycomb's dripping sweet drops of honey on a full moonlit night on the bayou with the wind blowing threw the whipper willows setting on a patio with fireflies reflecting off a pond full of lilies. And all that's a crock of crap. I am from Tennessee, you set out on the patio and all you get is eaten alive by the mosquito's. But it sounded good!
